Now you enjoy the Bo Peep illustration that captured the hearts of millions over the past years with our antique advertising tile.
This tile was produced by the American Encaustic Tile Company (AETCO) of Zanesville, Ohio in the 1920s. Illustrated by Walter Crane, an artist famous for his nursery rhymes and music book The Baby's Opera, his designs were used by various tile companies in the early 1900's. The illustration is signed in the lower right corner by Crane.
Tiles like this were used as advertising/promotional gifts. The back of the tile has "Courtesy of Arnold O. Andree Co. Chicago" with AETCO stamped into the pottery.
