View CollectionThese hard-to-find Rookwood Pottery ashtrays were born in 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, decorated by artist Jane Sacksteder. Bathed in a baby blue glaze, they each are decorated with two different zodiac signs - Taurus and Pisces - on the interior of the ashtray.
Small and sweet, they can be used as a ring dish, for trinkets, or even to store salt or spices in your kitchen while cooking.
(By the way, astrology dates for the Pisces sign are February 19-March 20, and for the Taurus sign are April 20-May 20.)
Jane began as a junior decorator at Rookwood Pottery in 1945, but was quickly promoted and remained there through 1948, executing mainly in High Glaze. Rookwood Pottery, known for its highly collectible art pottery, was founded in 1880 and closed in 1967, before being revived in 2004. It still operates in Cincinnati today.
