Vintage French Clay Baking Dish with Handle (c.1900s)
Vintage French Clay Baking Dish with Handle (c.1900s)
A staple in French country kitchens, heavy clay bakers like this one are absolute work horses. With a smooth glazed interior, a pour spout and a hollow handle to minimize the weight, this large vintage casserole can do just about anything you want.
Made by G.M.T. Co. in France, this old girl can bake a small chicken, roast potatoes or hold a batch of bread dough as it rises. The exterior and handle are unglazed which lends itself to marks of character and recording culinary history. Similar to a Poelon De Terre, sans lid. Dated to the early 1900s.
A perfect cooking companion to use or display in your modern farmhouse kitchen. Ooo-la-la!
