Primitive Round Cheese Box with Mosaic Lid
Primitive Round Cheese Box with Mosaic Lid
Our old cheese box is transformed with imagination! Primitive and well-worn, this large cheese box has been left in its original state, lest the upcycled lid been that's decorated with a hand cut vintage china mosaic.
The mosaic design focal is a ceramic round tile with painted strawberries. The surrounding pattern is an assortment of vintage china, glass tile, ceramics, pebbles, unglazed porcelain - all connected with a pale sage-tinted sanded grout and sealed for protection from stains. Mosaic was made in 2015.
A perfect addition to your primitive modern home decor. Can be used for storage, to display a plant or books, and even as a small table for a vase or lamp.
Listing Includes
- ONE primitive wooden cheese box with mosaic lid (as shown)
Item Condition
Splinters, nicks, original nails and staples, plus some glue drips from a "repair" are present on the box. The bottom of the box has a loose slat that wiggles but remains intact. The inside of the lid has been reinforced with a panel of wood/glue/tacks to stabilize prior to applying the tesserae and grout. The words "BUXTON & BUXTON CHEESE UTICA OHIO" are stamped on the side of the box.
The mosaic design is attached tightly to the lid; the center round tile is flat and even and can safely hold a glass of wine, lamp or plant. (We've tried all three!!)
