There's something about old rustic art that pulls us in, every single time. Maybe it's because we imagine the artist sitting at a kitchen table, drinking a cup of tea, and painting to her (his) heart's content after the children were asleep.

Amateur artist M.B. Hoffman painstakingly captured the beauty of bright red cardinals sitting in a dogwood tree long ago. (1954 to be exact)

Created in a primitive folk art style, these red birds would look wonderful hanging in the front hall, powder room or bedroom. Really, any room in the house.

Painted on board, signed, dated and framed. You can be sure this happy painting has brought smiles for nearly 70 years. And that's saying something.
