Who will be the lucky collector that finds this set of mid century Glidden Pottery plates? We're betting it's someone with good taste who recognizes highly collectible pottery at first glance.

Glidden Pottery produced unique stoneware dinnerware and art ware in Alfred, New York from 1940 to 1957. Utilizing modern production methods of slip casting or ram pressing, more than 300 different shapes were individually glazed and hand-decorated.

In its heyday, Glidden pottery was the choice of interior designers, art collectors, and even Hollywood actors and actresses. For instance, actress and comedienne, Lucille Ball adorned her California home and her on-air TV apartment based in New York on the set of “I Love Lucy” with Glidden pieces ranging from platters to ashtrays.

To find a set of six matching Glidden plates is indeed lucky. The hard-to-find pattern  with the modern abstract teal green and mustard yellow leaf motif is is even more amazing. Incised makers mark on the bottom of each plate 'Glidden 65.'  Dated to the 1950s.
