Step back in time with this original portfolio titled 'Ideal Types of American Beauties' by Harrison Fisher. Copyrighted in 1913 by Cosmopolitan Magazine, these ten prints of young ladies did represent America's common beauty standards back in the early 1900s.
We are proud to offer the complete collection of prints with original portfolio. The prints are lovely, highly collectible and represent a piece of women's history. Ten prints in all, they'd look absolutely fabulous framed and hung in a grouping.
But, boy oh boy! We've come a long way since 1913 (with still a long way to go). As you can see, these images of beauty were not at all inclusive in 1913. Thankfully, today's beauty industry is evolving and so are perceptions - and include people of all sizes, colors and backgrounds.
Harrison Fisher was a prolific artist and produced many similar images and illustrations during the early 1900s, mostly all representing the current ideals of beauty, families and culture of that time period.

Item Condition
Good condition with wear consistent with age and use. The brown portfolio shows overall wear including scuffs, edge wear, abrasions and discolorations. Two of the string ties are damaged or missing. Sticker residue and sticker on front cover.
The ten original lithographs are printed in a slightly textured paper, and show rich colors with faint marks, smudges and edge wear. Prints are signed by Fisher and marked 'Copyrighted 1913 by the Cosmopolitan Magazine.'
