Early Handmade Folk Art Memory Jug

The story of folk art memory jugs goes back maaaany years. This old girl - with shells and baubles and pocket trinkets - may be from the south where shells were easily accessible year 'round.
Heavy and solid, the pieces were adhered to the jug with a mortar-like substance or clay that did it's job! Nothing's loose on this old girl.
A way of holding onto memories, memory jugs remain a popular art form today (though most are not as rustic as this one).
