Antique Victorian Folk Style Floral Pattern Bowls (c.19th C)
Antique Victorian Folk Style Floral Pattern Bowls (c.19th C)
Our pair of antique earthenware bowls are here, just showing off their folk style floral patterns. With history, flowers, and imperfection (though not too much) - these beauties are definitely swoon-worthy.
Unmatched and made by different potters, in different countries, at different times, we are amazed with their similarity. Not sisters, really, but distant cousins.
The taller footed bowl was made in Belgium during the late 1800s. The shorter bowl was manufactured by James Reeves in England, Stoke-on-Trent, circa 1880. Hand painted with a blue sponge ware design plus a red flower inside.
Both typical utilitarian pieces that were used daily, not coveted or saved for company. Up on the auction block and waiting for a new home. 🌺
