If you are a tennis buff and an Ohio State University Buckeye fan, you will love our antique tennis racquet with original canvas bag and press clamp. Made by the A.J. Reach Company in Philadelphia, PA, it's in remarkable shape considering the age.  Though broken and split, the gut string is the real deal. Nowadays, most racquets are made with advanced synthetic string, often promising to 'play like gut.'

The bag and racquet handle bears the name and initials of the original owner, Earl C. Gibson of Woodsfield, OH. We are uncertain when this young man actually attended OSU and played tennis, but have included a photo of the tennis team from the 1921 OSU Makio Yearbook, also for sale in our shop.

All in all, this tennis set is steeped in historical significance and would make an exceptional gift for an individual who values history, sports and OSU.

Good antique condition considering age and use. The gut string is broken and split in areas, but the wooden frame is solid and sturdy, showing surface wear, accretions.
