A compelling display of hand crafted beauty and utility, this antique octagonal storage box was used to store treasures, secrets... and who knows what else?
The wooden box appears to be handmade with an embroidered rosy brown floral design attached to the removable lid. Lined with deep ruby red velvet, she was a keepsake box for a special lady. Worn and loved so hard, the velvet lining and bottom cover show loss and which is typical for the age.
In search of a new home, this old girl is now retired and would be happy just to sit on a shelf or dresser, watching your daily activities. Storage like this was prominent during the Victorian era. Estimated to be 100+ yrs old.

Item Condition
Good condition with wear consistent with age and use. Lid’s embroidered floral design intact; stitches visible on bottom. The wooden box shows separation due to age. Both velvet interior and bottom show residue, dust, fiber loss and wear. The velvet fibers are somewhat loose and and easily brushed away, so caution when handling.
Unmarked and undated; appears to be hand crafted.
