The first horseshoe shaped book is The Kressent Brand Needle Co. from 1930s Germany. The cover shows women and young girls embroidering - a popular pastime. Inside you will see 6 folding needle envelopes plus one red holder for larger needles. This needle books holds about 45 'Elliptic Gold Eyed' needles of various sizes.
The second rectangular book is The Army and Navy Needle Book by the Mills Needle Co. The booklet itself was manufactured in 1940s Germany, illustrating the WWII US Iowa battleship on the front with a glorious eagle on the back. This booklet holds at least 20 needles of various sizes. The Army Navy needle books were manufactured for many years and featured various ships, dating back to the early late 1800s.
