Antique German Brass Inkwell (1800s)
Antique German Brass Inkwell (1800s)
Our authentic German brass inkwell is dated from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.
Triangular in shape, a beautiful floral engraving surrounds the well, plus a delicate banner in the front illustrates subtlety of that time period. It is missing the original glass or porcelain well that inserts into the opening.
Out the bottom of the inkwell is a mark: 'RES. GESCH' which is a patent stamp loosely translated to signify this piece is copyrighted or legally protected.
A beautiful keepsake for individuals who still enjoy calligraphy and writing with a nib or quill.
