View CollectionIf you are a fan of original art, this hand painted folk art chest is just waiting for you.
Purchased from an antique dealer, this unique chest (with removable tray) was likely made in the early 1900s for a child or as a marriage box. Painted a soft teal green and decorated with traditional folk art motifs of creatures, flowers, and hearts, domed chests were quite popular back in the day.
The original floral paper lining is still present, discolored and worn, but oh-so sweet. The chest bottom also shows remnants of paper. A perfect place to stash your special books, papers or keepsakes.
We could go on and on, but you'll just have to see for yourself. Please be sure to view all photos as they serve as part of the description.

Listing Includes
- ONE hand painted wooden domed chest with folk art motifs and interior removable tray (as shown)
Item Condition
Good condition with overall wear consistent with age and use. The wood panels show marks, abrasions, chipping plus gaps in the bottom. Interior and exterior paper is delicate and thin with scattered areas of peeling, discoloration and loss. Black metal hardware; front latch closes but does not have key. Fabric on removable interior tray is discolored and torn in spots.
At some point, a varnish finish has been applied to exterior which has yellowed in areas, as seen in photos. In addition, the surface exhibits crackling of finish, especially on the domed top.
Complete perfection, in our humble opinion!
