There's a lot to love with this pair of framed floral needlepoint designs! Most notable is the unexpected chartreuse background surrounding the delicate pink florals. Stitched by hand over 100 years ago by a woman (likely) who made her own rules (definitely). And we wish we could've known her.
The oval wooden frames, embellished with carved leaves and berries, are also quite unique. They have a textured pebble finish, possibly from the application of varnish or shellac. This happens sometimes with old wood, and adds to the distinct character of these two beauties.
Even if you never thought of owning old needlework, this pair will surely change your mind. Imagine how quirky these would be in your kitchen, bathroom or hallway!

- TWO antique framed floral needlepoints, with bright chartreuse backgrounds (as shown)
Good condition with wear consistent with age and use. The surface of the wooden frames appear to be very old. Possibly finished with shellac or varnish, they have acquired a 'pebbled' surface. (There are many reasons for this to happen; we think it is quite lovely and wouldn't change it for the world!)
The stitched pink florals and bright chartreuse background is in very good condition. The framing job is somewhat loose on the back as paper cover has torn in spots. The fabric is not completely taught with areas of minor buckling present. Old wire on back for hanging.
Dated to the early 1900s according to auctioneer.
