If you are a feather edge aficionado - welcome! If not, hang around and you will be!

Here is an antique octagonal whiteware dish decorated with an incised edge and blue underglaze. She was likely made in England during the 1800s based on the incised mark on the bottom (ADAMS).

These octagonal pieces were the most common form made for serving dishes and platters. Heavy, sturdy and utilitarian, feather edge was cheap but used by people from every social strata - daily laborers as well as royalty.

You can display this beauty in so many ways, but we recommend avoiding temperature extremes or liquids. Think holidays, centerpieces, even displaying fresh fruit! If you want to learn more about feather edge, check out this book.
