Love at first site! Our little cast iron elephant bank is so darn cute you'll want it for yourself! Can't you see him nestled in a plant grouping, on a book shelf, or surveying your kitchen?
Of course, this bank was made for children in the 1920s-1930s, so it could adorn your baby's nursery, too. A great keepsake for any newborn!
Called a howdah elephant, it carries the ancient throne on his back allowing 1-2 people to ride in style. Here, the howdah is actually the coin slot where children can save their pennies. Note the screw on the side to open the bank and retrieve the coins (though the screw was not tested).
This bank was made by the AC Williams Company which manufactured numerous cast iron toys and banks until 1938 when they closed.
