This quirky collage is aptly titled 'Hold the Mayo' from an advertisement from an old Best Foods cookbook. Music, flowers and a top hat are just of few of the random images that seem to be right at home in this collage.

The substrate is an old page from a small book which is adhered to a piece of 140 lb. watercolor paper. Layers of cut and torn papers and book covers are arranged in a tight little rectangle. Various stitching adds texture.

Every collage I make is unique and different. Yours will be signed and dated, then carefully wrapped in a protective cellophane sleeve and shipped in a rigid mailing envelope. ** This particular collage will come ready to frame with an 8x10 mat and backboard. (the opening in the mat is 5x7)

Inspiration

Inspired by stacks of discarded old books and papers with interesting text, images, graphics and history, old books are deconstructed, then bits and pieces are hand cut and sorted by color. I'll experiment with the design until I create an aesthetically pleasing arrangement. I'll let it rest for a few days, then return and adjust the design if needed. Oftentimes, ink, pencil and thread are added to provide additional interest and texture.

Listing Includes

- ONE original handmade piece of collage art made from old books, mat, backboard (as shown)

Item Condition

Great condition! Remember - the inherent nature of handmade collage art is the charm and imperfection of the ingredients used. You will see loose threads, bumps, and surface wear that are all part of the design. Collages that adhere directly to paper may show slight buckling of the paper substrate.
