Our antique red family banner flag was discovered at an estate sale in Chillicothe, OH, which offered many items from the New England area from the late 19th century.
Imagine the importance of a family flag in the 1800s. Here is your chance to own a piece of New England history.
This primitive flag is made of red linen blend with a tightly woven canvas type material used as the header and footer. The name 'J.P. THACHER' is stenciled in red paint on the white fabric on both sides of the flag. The flag is reported to be handmade back in the day. Charming and authentic - this flag would make a great rustic decoration in a family room, bar or restaurant!
Very old and worn with numerous areas of thinning, tears and rips. There are several areas where the fabric was mended by hand. Flag had been stored folded in a box in an upstairs bedroom, with a musty odor that can be aired out. Fold marks still remain.
