From the 1800s, this shabby old antique mirror will become the focal piece of your dining room, bedroom, mantel - or anywhere you place it. Empire vanity mirrors were popular with both men and women as they conducted personal tasks such as shaving, brushing/arranging hair and dressing back in the day.
This item was made with mahogany stained wood and wood veneers. The glass mirror obviously shows silvering loss which adds charm and character, in our opinion. Manufacturer unknown.
(We sure wish we knew how many faces it has seen, don't you?)
- ONE antique American Empire Vanity Mirror with stand (as show)
In good antique condition with overall wear consistent with age and use. Dated to the early-mid 1800s, this lovely mirror has seen lots of use. The wood shows splits, scratches, stains, chips and buckling. Abrasions, speckling and loss of silvering to the glass mirror. Overall dust and residue present. The back of the mirror is intact (last photo) but was not removed for inspection. Includes original hardware. The mirror does tilt/swing as designed. Unmarked. Handle with care. Highly fragile.
