This hand stitched needlepoint tapestry is true old world art. Rescued from an estate auction, it was found in a broken frame (now discarded) and is looking for a forever home.
The scene depicts seven dancing muses or goddesses from ancient Greek mythology. You can almost feel the joy, and they dance and twirl towards the sea. Appearing to possibly be cross stitched onto a large piece of linen, it must have taken months to complete. We've included images of the reverse side of the piece so you can see the amazing detail and workmanship. Unmarked and not dated.
This piece would make for one-of-a-kind wall art that’ll look lovely in a living room gallery situation, bathroom, or kitchen. Suggest a professional cleaning and a thin gold frame to restore it to its former glory. Mix it in with your modern decor or pair with something with a little history for a charming vignette.

In good vintage condition, though very old. There is soil and residue throughout, with yellowing and discoloration. The edges where it was framed and under glass show deterioration and some small holes as the fabric stuck to the frame while being removed. The reverse side shows the detailed stitching and workmanship. The edge of the fabric is not completely even. Suggest professional cleaning.
