Does redware pottery hold a special place in your heart like it does ours?
These miniature Pennsylvania Dutch redware dishes pair beautifully with our tiny antique English pewter plate to form a lovely grouping.
You will not be able to stop looking at them. Guaranteed.
Made by nationally-known potter Lester Breininger of Robesonia, PA., this redware is just about the best quality you can find. A master folk artist and teacher, Lester operated the Breininger Pottery from 1965-2011 recreating 18th century Pennsylvania pottery. Many of Breininger's pieces were often slip decorated with common folk art motifs of animals, stars, flowers and birds, similar to other old Pennsylvania Dutch art.
Both redware dishes have toggled edges and deep yellow and green slip decor. The pewter plate is marked 'ENGLAND' on the back with other faint markings.

- THREE-piece grouping of miniature dishes, including two redware dishes and one pewter plate (as shown)
Very good condition consistent with age and use. The Breininger redware dishes are both marked with Lester Breininger's signature and date 1986, plus initials MEL. The pewter plate is stamped 'ENGLAND'. Pottery shows no chips or cracks, just mild surface wear including marks, mild scratching, residue and discoloration on the unglazed back. The pewter shows a lovely patina of age and use, dated to 1960s or before.
